SmarTrade Brings Financial Literacy to Bulacan State University

On February 21, 2026, SmarTrade successfully collaborated with the Junior Financial Executives of Bulacan State University for an engaging and impactful financial wellness seminar. The event gathered almost 100 students from the College of Business Education and Accountancy, all eager to expand their financial knowledge beyond the classroom. Through this initiative, SmarTrade reinforced its commitment to empowering young Filipinos with practical financial education. Moreover, the partnership with Bulacan State University highlights the growing importance of industry-academe collaboration in shaping financially responsible future professionals.

SmarTrade’s Head of Learning and Development, Ed Saguibo, led the seminar with an in-depth discussion on “Introduction to Online Trading: Forex, CFDs, and Other Opportunities” and “Building Good Financial Habits in College.” He explained how the global financial markets operate and clarified common misconceptions surrounding forex and CFD trading. Furthermore, he emphasized that knowledge, discipline, and risk management serve as foundations for sustainable trading.

Throughout the session, Saguibo broke down technical terms into relatable examples, allowing students from Bulacan State University to grasp essential concepts with confidence. He demonstrated how online trading platforms function, discussed the importance of understanding leverage and volatility, and highlighted the value of continuous learning. As a result, students gained clearer insight into how financial markets create both opportunities and risks. Instead of presenting trading as a shortcut to wealth, he encouraged responsible decision-making and long-term thinking.

In addition, Saguibo dedicated a significant portion of the seminar to building good financial habits in college. He urged students to practice budgeting, saving consistently, and avoiding impulsive financial decisions. By connecting trading principles with everyday money management, he helped students see how discipline applies both in markets and in personal finance. Consequently, participants left the seminar with practical strategies they can immediately apply in their academic and financial journeys.

The successful seminar at Bulacan State University demonstrates how meaningful partnerships can transform student learning experiences. SmarTrade did not merely deliver a lecture; instead, it facilitated an interactive platform where students asked questions, shared insights, and explored real-world financial scenarios. Because of this approach, students from the College of Business Education and Accountancy gained exposure to financial markets in a structured and responsible manner.
